About Deanna

Deanna Rondero
I’m a Latinx/Indigenous mother, nutrition therapist, meditation teacher, and grief doula. I consider myself a California Chicagoan—born and raised in the Bay Area, but I’ve made Chicago home with my daughter. I find peace in water, trees, laughter, and simple moments like doodling and baking cookies with my daughter, all of which help me stay grounded in systems that pull us from the present. For over a decade as a Registered Dietitian, primarily on Chicago's South and West Sides, I've supported people through eating disorders, chronic illness, and complex relationships with food and body using a non-diet, size-inclusive, decolonized approach centered on BIPOC communities. I believe health isn't about willpower or personal failing—it's shaped by oppressive systems we live within, and healing must honor that truth. I've learned that grief isn't only about death but lives in the shifts and transformations of our bodies and identities, and I hold space for those vulnerable experiences with compassion. My personal and professional life are rooted in Buddhist and Indigenous spiritual practices. These traditions have guided my own healing—teaching me to trust, listen, and reconnect with my body. Through them, I’ve learned that each of us carries our own wisdom. We are, and have always been, the experts of our own bodies.
